New In Store: Sanderson Options 11

If you haven't been in to esdesign recently it is worth swinging on by to check out some of the gorgeous fabrics and wallpapers on display from the new Sanderson Options 11 collection - as always there are some fabulous designs in very usable colour-ways, and of course all on top quality basecloth. The sampling books are currently on their way from England, but in the mean time here's a little peek at just a few of the fabrics on display in our showroom - all available for order - among many other gorgeous goodies in store now!

The Home of Alex Fulton

If you haven't already, head out and grab a copy of the latest Your Home and Garden to see an awesome feature on the home of designer Alex Fulton. Her home is full of colour, pattern and whimsy; a true example of someone who isn't afraid to just design using her heart - not her head, surrounding herself with things that make her happy as opposed to designing 'by the book'.

A Ballot Box House, Italy

Head over here to read about this fascinating space in Florence, Italy - transformed from an industrial warehouse into a vibrant residential loft, in part using 300 wooden ballet boxes from the 1940's. Up-cycling at it's best! The loft is now the perfect mix of clean white lines and rustic weathered surfaces, serving as a backdrop to the owners eclectic mix of artwork, colourful glass collection and vintage furniture and finds.

Mother's Day Goodies

If you're still hunting for a little (or large!) something for Mother's Day, pop into esdesign to see some of the new goodies we've recently got in stock. Included are some great new lampshades, one-of-a-kind cushions and these two pairs of fully restored and re-upholstered chairs - a great shape and conveniently small footprint yet still really comfy!

This week we are sadly saying farewell to our fabulous Chelsea who is off to Sydney to begin her overseas adventures! We wish her lots of luck, laughs and safe travels and we hope to see her back in Wellington in the not too distant future. Love ya Chels! x

Trendspotting: Morrocan Tiles

We're excited to see the latest trend in floor and splash back tiling turning from plain, neutral, minimalistic styles to patterned, colourful mosaics with a Spanish or Morrocan flavour.

Looking to European magazines and design sites, we are seeing traditional tiled mosaic floors in older homes which once upon a time would have been ripped up and replaced - now being cleaned, repaired and their intricate designs embraced and worked into more contemporary fit outs, while new mosaic versions are being introduced to fire surrounds, bathroom floors and kitchen splash backs in existing character homes.

Here are some examples of just how these more intricately detailed, patterned tiles can inject some real personality and interest into an interior environment. The way to make it work? Balance the strong visual impact of these tiles with crisp, clean finishes and surfaces in light colours.

Suface Skins & Decals by Blik

Amid the sometimes hit or miss world of wall decals comes this super creative company Blik who design and produce surface skins and decals for nearly any interior environment you can think of!

New from Ingrid Anderson - Pohutakawa Rug

Our best selling Ingrid Anderson fabric would have to be, by far, her 'Pohutakawa' design - and now we are excited to see that she has turned it into a rug!
The circular rugs come two metres in diameter, and made in NZ from 100% wool. We love it! Let us know if you fancy a bit of plush pohutakawa goodness under your toes this winter...
